We believe: |
| |
a designated, predictable funding source for our stormwater needs is now critical. We can no longer depend on short-term solutions to a long-term problem. |

| The Need |

|
| |
It’s simple…our stormwater system is old, and it has seen little investment in decades. At the same time, our impervious surface mass has increased many-fold as our city has developed into a regional center for commerce, healthcare, retail and the arts.
|
- The existing stormwater system needs to be updated in many neighborhoods to accommodate the increased stormwater runoff due to increased development
- Runoff carries pollutants to our rivers and streams, the majority of which are classified as impaired for water quality by the Department of Environmental Quality
- More than 200 stormwater projects have been identified at an estimated cost of $60 million. (Many of these projects have been needed for decades)
- The current budget allows for minimal maintenance and little capital investment
