Investigator J.N. Owens grew up in Northern Virginia. Upon graduating high school she attended Radford University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. While at Radford University Investigator J.N. Owens played for the Radford Women’s Rugby team, and was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity.

In 2008 Investigator J.N. Owens began her career with the Roanoke Police Department. Upon graduating the Police Academy, she was assigned to the northwest quadrant of the City. In 2009 Investigator J.N. Owens was awarded the prestigious Rookie of the Year award. Investigator J.N. Owens has experience in the Department’s Community Response Team, Special Victim’s Unit, Crimes Against Person, and Background Investigations. She currently holds certifications as a General Instructor, Physical Training Instructor, and Supplemental Evidence Technician.

Physical fitness is an important aspect of Law Enforcement. Investigator J.N. Owens has represented the Roanoke Police Department by competing in several National Law Fit competitions, and has won first place.
