Sergeant Jennifer Boswell grew up in middle Tennessee and attended the University of North Alabama. In January 2003 she started the Roanoke Police Training Academy in Class 51. After graduation she went to Alpha Platoon for patrol and became a Field Training Officer. She rotated out of patrol to Power Shift Unit, VICE, Street Crimes Unit in which she was promoted out of in December 2015 as Sergeant. She was a patrol sergeant for Delta and Bravo Platoons before transferring to the Police Academy in January 2015 as the Assistant Academy Director.

She is a specialized instructor in Defensive Tactics and Physical Fitness. She has been the lead Defensive Tactics instructor for over two years. She also teaches personal safety seminars all over the Roanoke Valley, reaching nearly 4,000 people in 2015 alone.She assists in the local chapter of Help Save the Next Girl and helps colleges get their chapters started.

She is a graduate of the International Chiefs of Police Women’s Leadership Institute, Session 1. She is also a member of the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives (NAWLEE) and a member of Mid-Atlantic Association of Women in Law Enforcement (MAWLEE).
