December 10, 2012

Roanoke, VA - Roanoke Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that the Roanoke 100-Miler program will be back for a second year. Last year, approximately 850 people participated in the challenge to complete 100 miles of human-powered exercise in 100 days. Registration is now open and the program begins on Jan. 7.

The average mileage completed per person last year was more than double the original goal of 100 miles. This year, participants can set their own goals up to 1,000 miles and can choose to register as a team. Participants will receive weekly motivational e-mails from the program's official mascot as well as suggested running, walking, and biking routes. In addition, a prize will be given away every week for the duration of the 100 days.

Registration is available for $19 (with a shirt) or $9 (without a shirt). You can view a mock-up of this year's shirt and vote for your favorite color by clicking "shirt info" at the top of the page at www.roanoke100miler.com.
