UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS
In order to qualify for this HPRP program you must meet the following qualifications:
- Household must complete the initial consultation with a CHRC staff member
- The household must be
- homeless or
- at risk of losing its housing
AND
meet BOTH of the following circumstances:
- No appropriate housing options have been identified; AND
- The household lacks the financial resources and support networks needed to obtain immediate housing or remain in its existing housing
- You must meet the income eligibility of the program- 50% AMI –City of Roanoke, Roanoke County, City of Salem, Craig County, Botetourt County

- No other rent subsidy or rental assistance has been received within the past 18 months- e.g. public housing, Section 8, federal, state, local program
- You must be willing to follow the guidelines of HPRP- your case manager will go over the program requirements
- The HPRP is a temporary program
- This is not a mortgage assistance program
EVERYTHING MUST BE VERIFIED before any assistance can be given and any false information given by the client will result in termination from the program and NO financial assistance will be given.
Future rent or utility assistance is determined through a (3 month) recertification process. You must contact your CHRC case manager if you need further financial assistance. A determination will be made at your recertification.
