Lead-Safe Roanoke


Program Partners

Establishing partnerships with community organizations allows Lead-Safe Roanoke to more efficiently utilize resources in fulfilling its program goals. Our partners assist with education/outreach efforts as well as providing other beneficial services allowing the program to better meet the needs of our citizens. Below is a list of several participating organizations, and a brief description of the services they provide:

City Department Partners

Neighborhood Services

The Lead-Safe Roanoke program is administered by Neighborhood Services staff, a division of the Department of Planning, Building and Development. Through their efforts, citizens are provided with educational information about the dangers associated with lead poisoning.


Other Governmental Organization Partners

Roanoke City Health Department

The Roanoke City Health Department provides blood lead level screenings to children less than 6 years old. They conduct lead risk assessments and manage the cases of those children under the age of 6 who exhibit elevated blood lead levels.


Community Organization Partners

Roanoke Redevelopment & Housing Authority and Total Action Against Poverty

Utilizing their vast community contacts, the Roanoke Redevelopment & Housing Authority (RRHA) and Total Action Against Poverty (TAP) assist Lead-Safe Roanoke by conducting education/outreach events.
