Neighborhood Month...

Neighborhood Month is a month long celebration of community and
neighborhood pride hosted by Roanoke neighborhood organizations to provide
opportunities for neighbors to get together to celebrate their neighborhoods…and each other...
as we do have much to celebrate!

... during the month of May.

Saturday, May 3, 2008
Hurt Park Neighborhood Alliance - May Day Event - (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)
Hurt Park Elementary School, 1525 Salem Avenue SW
The Hurt Park Neighborhood Alliance, in partnership with Hurt Park School and the City of Roanoke, celebrate the beginning of May with food, music, and the Hurt Park children wrapping the May pole. A 2 & 4 mile Walk/Run starts at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call Jimmy Cook at 344-5619 or Hurt Park School at 853-2986.

Fleming Court Neighborhood Watch - Multi-block Yard Sale - (8 a.m. - ?)
200 block of Christian, 3900 Block of Bohan, 4100-4300 block of Holmes, 200 block of Hurst, 300-400 block of Trinkle, 300 block of Preston

Downtown Residents Association - Downtown Clean-up Day - (1-4 p.m.)
Market Square and neighboring streets
Join the residents of the Downtown as we ‘spring clean’ by picking up trash and cleaning the sidewalks between Jefferson Street and Williamson Road, and Salem and Church Avenues. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt for coming out and helping with this effort. To volunteer or for more information, call 342-2028. Rain date will be June 1. Come out and show your pride in Downtown Roanoke!

Old Southwest celebrates Neighborhood Month and Mother’s Day by inviting you to bring your mom and join your neighbors for a 'Picnic in the Park'. Bring a blanket and a dish, and share in a day of great food, fun, sun, and music with neighbors in Highland Park.
