Disaster Recovery Resources

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Businesses seeking disaster recovery assistance are encouraged to contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) to register their request. FEMA will register businesses and forward their requests to the Small Business Administration (SBA) to apply for federally subsidized low interest loans on property not covered by insurance. Information on local disaster recovery centers and their hours of operation will be provided as well.

Low interest federally subsidized loans on property not covered by insurance are available through the SBA for both physical disasters and economic injuries. Contact them at (800) 659-2955

Virginia Business Information Center (VBIC)

The Virginia Business Information Center (VBIC) can be reached at (866) 248-8814. This agency is the state's central business information resource, providing access to capital, incentives for workforce development, and business counseling.

US Department of Agriculture

Emergency Loan Assistance to help producers recover from production and physical losses due to drought, flooding, other natural disasters, or quarantine is available. For information, visit their web site.

Virginia Department of Emergency Management

This department of Virginia government will post updates and information on recovery efforts should there be a emergency situation in the commonwealth.

American Red Cross Guidance for Business and Industry

The above web site offers information for businesses in preparing for emergency situations.

Institute for Business and Home Safety

This web site gives instructions on preparing property for natural disasters from hurricanes to earthquakes.
