Circuit Court

The Circuit Court of the City of Roanoke is the City’s court of general jurisdiction. In common with the other courts of the Commonwealth, its primary mission is to provide an independent, accessible, responsive forum for the just resolution of disputes in order to preserve the rule of law and to protect all rights and liberties guaranteed by the United States and Virginia Constitutions.

The Circuit Court of the City of Roanoke is one of the three courts of the Twenty-third Judicial Circuit of Virginia. Four of the judges of the Circuit maintain their chambers in the Roanoke City Courthouse, and primarily hear cases in the Roanoke City Courthouse. One judge maintains her chambers in the Roanoke County Courthouse, and primarily hears cases in that courthouse. One judge maintains his chambers in the City of Salem Courthouse, and primarily hears cases in Roanoke County and the City of Salem.
