2008 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Information!
Three regional household hazardous waste collection events are scheduled for 2008. The events will be held on the following dates:
- Sunday, May 4
- Sunday, August 3
- Sunday, November 2
The collection events will be held at the Roanoke Valley Resource Authority's Transfer Station. Residents from the City of Roanoke, Roanoke County, Botetourt County and the Town of Vinton are welcome to participate in these free collection events.
Household hazard waste collection events are free only to the residents of the City of Roanoke, the Counties of Roanoke and Botetourt, and the Town of Vinton. Acceptable household hazardous wastes include motor oil, antifreeze, paints, varnishes, thinners, fluorescent bulbs, household cleaners, bleach, polishes, kerosene, etc. No commercial waste, tires, explosives, medical waste or radioactive materials, including smoke detectors, will be accepted. Pre-registration is required for all participants. Residents who have not pre-registered will not be able to dispose of their waste during the events. Pre-registration can be performed by calling 387-6225.
