Fire Prevention Division
The Fire Prevention Division is comprised of one Fire Marshal, one Assistant Fire Marshal, eight fire inspectors and twelve fire investigators.
The Fire Prevention Division performs annual fire prevention inspections, re-inspections, fire investigations and other inspections. This third category of inspections includes: safety equipment installation acceptance tests, fuel storage tank removals, home fire safety inspections, building surveys, complaint investigations, and fire extinguisher surveys.
The fire inspections are conducted in accordance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code and the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and other applicable codes.
