The Department of Public Works has focused its responsibilities to include the Division of Engineering, Solid Waste Management and Transportation. Its mission is "to coordinate the activities of City departments, particularly those divisions within the Public Works Department , to be successful in fulfilling their missions of service to the residents, businesses, and visitors in the City of Roanoke."
