PURCHASING OVERVIEW
The legislative purpose of The Purchasing Division is defined in Section 23.2-1 as follows:
- To provide for increased public confidence in the procedures followed in public procurement;
- To insure the fair and equitable treatment of all persons who deal with the procurement system of the city;
- To provide increased economy in city procurement activities and to maximize to the fullest extent practicable the purchasing value of public funds of the city;
- To foster effective broad-based competition within the free enterprise system;
- To provide safeguards for the maintenance of the procurement system of quality and integrity; and
- To promote uniformity of procurement policies and procedures among the various departments, offices and agencies of the city.
We wish to provide the opportunity for interested vendors to provide the necessary products and/or services and welcome all qualified offerors.
