Neighborhood Services Division

As a division of the City of Roanoke's Department of Neighborhood Services, our vision is to be recognized as a strategic leader in developing all of Roanoke's neighborhoods into vibrant, sustainable places for people of all ages, ethnicity, lifestyles, and income to live, work, and play.

The Neighborhood Services Division is an action-oriented coalition of neighborhoods, businesses, and the City of Roanoke government working together to preserve and improve the quality of living in Roanoke. We accomplish this purpose by acting as a liaison between independent neighborhood organizations and the public, private, nonprofit, and voluntary sectors.

Responsibilities of the Neighborhood Services Division include:
1) Developing and strengthening neighborhoods by assisting with the organization of neighborhood groups and neighborhood watch programs
2) Serving as staff to the Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates (RNA) and administering their Neighborhood Development Grant Program
3) Working as an agent for community development by the administration of the Neighborhood Leadership College
4) Welcome Roanoke - a program that welcomes new citizens relocating to our community and assists them in becoming acquainted with the city.
5) Serving as a conduit for information exchange between government and community through the publication of a quarterly newsletter
6) Coordinating customer service and problem-solving functions via the Citizen Service Center
