This section of the Finance Department is responsible for financial reporting in compliance with standards set by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
Accounting staff work closely with all City departments to insure proper documentation of transactions, budget compliance, grant compliance and reporting, asset management, and debt management.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) of the City is produced by the Accounting staff, in cooperation with other administrative departments.
The City of Roanoke's accounting system is the Advantage System. This product was purchased and licensed from and is maintained by CGI, Inc. The City is currently operating under Advantage Financial release version 3.5.1. The City also uses the Advantage Fixed Asset and Extended Purchasing subsystems, which is also licensed from CGI, Inc.
