The Planning Commission advises and assists City Council in promoting the orderly development of the City. The Commission develops the plans and ordinances to guide future growth and serves as a sounding board for City Council in matters related to development issues. The Commission reviews and make recommendations to City Council on proposed amendments to the City's land development regulations (rezonings, zoning text amendments), street and alley closure requests and short- and long-range plans.

Informal Work Sessions are held on the 4th Friday of each month at 12 noon in the EOC Conference Room (Room 159), 1st floor, Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building.

Planning Commission Public Hearings are held in the City Council Chamber, Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building at 1:30 p.m.on the 2nd Tuesday of each month

Deadlines for Applications

The filing deadline is the 1st Thursday of each month with public hearings scheduled for the following month.
Applicants should schedule a pre-filing conference with the staff to determine the necessity, grounds, and
completeness of the zoning amendment request. To schedule a pre-filing conference, please call (540) 853-1730.
