Parks and Recreation
The city has over 68 parks and greenways and seven recreation centers with numerous programs and activities daily. Offering youth and adult athletics, personal enrichment adult programs, fitness and wellness, trips and tours, outdoor recreation, and youth development, there is something for everyone. Public Libraries
Dedicated to providing community centers that are enlightening, educational, and entertaining. There are numerous opportunities for residents to experience what the library system has to offer. Municipal Volunteer Program
The City of Roanoke’s Municipal Volunteer Program (MVP) promotes civic engagement by encouraging citizens to participate in the enhancement, expansion, and development of the city. The goal of the program is to take advantage of the tremendous reserve of knowledge, talent, and skill within the community. Participation as a volunteer will not only enhance your knowledge about the city, but also enrich your life and greatly benefit our community. You can be involved in anything from one time events to long-term opportunities in just about any City of Roanoke Department.
