Lead-Safe Roanoke

Rental Registry

Lead-Safe Roanoke is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development designed to reduce lead poisoning as a result of lead-based paint hazards that exist in the City of Roanoke’s housing stock. This program maintains a registry of rental properties made lead-safe through the efforts of our program. The purpose of the registry is to assist people in finding lead-safe rental housing within the City of Roanoke. Upon completion of lead-hazard control activities performed on the property, the rental properties listed in Lead-Safe Roanoke’s rental registry were determined to be lead-safe.

The term ‘lead-safe’ means lead-based paint is still present in a dwelling or residence, but the paint exists in an intact and good condition. Furthermore, comprehensive lead-based paint inspection/risk assessment reports that identify the location of lead-based paint on the property’s interior and exterior are available for each property listed in this registry and must be provided to prospective tenants prior to signing lease documents.
