Edgewood-Morwanda-Summit Hills Neighborhood Organization

The Edgewood-Morwanda-Summit Hills-Washington Heights Neighborhood Organization (EMSHNO) was formed in 1995 and serves the neighborhoods of Northwest Roanoke between Melrose Avenue, Salem Turnpike and the Peters Creek Road Extension.  This section of Roanoke celebrates its cultural and economic diversity.

The Edgewood-Morwanda-Summit Hills-Washington Heights Neighborhood Organization looks forward to adding you to its membership. With more active members and volunteers, our group will continue to be a powerful advocate for our Northwest Roanoke neighborhoods.

See what we’ve done so far...

1) New Gateway Signs mark our boundaries and welcome visitors to our neighborhood.  Look for signs at Westside Boulevard, Gladies Street and other locations.
2) Flower Beds beautify an already beautiful neighborhood.
3) Updated Fire Hydrants and a Crime Prevention Program improve safety for our residents.
4) Adopt-A-Highway program on Peters Creek Road Extension
5) EMSHNO has defeated three separate proposals for a federal halfway house within our boundaries.
6) Five mini-grants from the City of Roanoke have been awarded to Edgewood-Morwanda-Summit Hills-Washington Heights through EMSHNO’s advocacy.

A Vision for our future is for members of the Edgewood-Morwanda-Summit Hills-Washington Heights Neighborhood Organization to continue working to increase voter registration, establish a public park within our boundaries and, most important of all, make our presence known in Roanoke.
