“Enrich and protect the families in the City of Roanoke by helping its citizens eliminate lead-based paint hazards from their homes, which will help them live happier healthier lives”
The Lead-Safe Roanoke program will reduce lead hazards in 80 low-to-moderate income homes or apartments. The target areas have very high environmental risk factors that demonstrate the prevalence of lead exposure. Those factors include housing built before 1978 and children age 5 and under living or frequently visiting these targeted areas.
Lead-Safe Roanoke is a grant-funded program designed to reduce lead poisoning by stabilizing lead-based paint hazards found in rental and single-family homes built in Roanoke prior to 1978. FREE Grant funds are available to homeowners and renters.
There is no safe level of lead in the body.
