Street Cleaning
The city of Roanoke has approximately 1,100 lane miles of streets. The purpose of street cleaning is to maintain public rights-of-way to create a positive image and promote safety and environmental quality throughout the city.
The overall schedule for sweeping the City streets is as follows:
- Clean each residential street once every three months
- Clean each arterial street once every three weeks
- Clean the Central Business District (downtown) each night
Factors such as weather, changing seasonal conditions and equipment performance affect how closely this schedule can be followed.
