The Roanoke Centre for Industry and Technology (RCIT) was initially a 300 acre, City-owned industrial complex located just minutes from Interstates 581 and 81. This industrial park was acquired, developed and marketed by the City. Nine sites in the park have been utilized, leaving approximately 40 acres for additional development. Recognizing the economic potential of site availability, City Council authorized the purchase of an additional 140 acres in 1990. The additional land will be used for the expansion of the industrial park, enabling the City to continue its excellent record of attracting top corporations, enhancing the tax base, and creating jobs for its citizens. Four new sites have been graded and are ready-to-go. The following outline provides a list of the companies currently located at the RCIT:
