WHAT IS PODCASTING?
Podcasting is a method of publishing audio and/or video programs via the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a "feed" of new audio and/or video files (usually MP3s). To subscribe to podcasts, you need "podcatching" software (also called a podcast reader or aggregator), which periodically checks for and downloads new content automatically. The most popular podcasting software is the free iTunes. Once you download a podcast, you can listen to it on your computer or copy it onto your iPod or other portable music/video player. Although podcast combines the words "iPod" and "broadcast," it does not require an Apple iPod.

• To listen to a program, simply click on the program title.
• To save a file to your computer, right click the link and choose "Save Target As."
• To subscribe to all City of Roanoke Podcasts, highlight the following address next to the icon, choose "Copy" from the Edit menu, and paste it into your podcatching software.
