Priorities

The City of Roanoke has completed the Budget Development process for FY 2019 and is actively applying this budget to current year expenditures. To see the steps taken and document and presentations produced during this process you'll find the most recent Status & Calendar link here.

During FY 2012 the city implemented a model known as Budgeting for Outcomes. This model operates with funding allocations based on Priorities as focus areas as set by City Council. For FY 2019 City Council reaffirmed the 7 Priorities used since the process's inception of Economy, Education, Good Government, Human Services, Infrastructure, Livability, and Safety. Departments prepare Offers and submit them to the appropriate Priorities where they can be ranked and evaluated for funding.
