The much anticipated Grand Opening of Fire-EMS Station 5 will take place on Monday, June 28, 2010 at noon. Members of City Council, City Administration, community leaders and the Secretary of Public Safety will attend this dedication ceremony.

The Station 5 construction project started in the fall of 2007 with the consultant selection process. The bid process took place in October, 2008. Construction on this state of the art, LEED certified facility began on January 12, 2009 and will be completed on June 21, 2010, with Fire-EMS personnel moving in on June 22, 2010. The total cost for this station is approximately $4.8 million.

New Station 5 will consolidate current Station 5 located at 216 12th St., NW and Station 9 located at 514 24th St., NW. Personnel from both of these stations will be housed at Station 5.

Station 5 will also house the department’s new 105 ft. Pierce Ladder Truck.
