Sheriff Octavia Johnson is pleased to announce the Sixth Annual Roanoke City Sheriff's Office Charity Golf Tournament will be held at the premier Hunting Hills Country Club in Roanoke, Virginia, Saturday, April 30, 2011.
All proceeds from this event will benefit the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office DARE program. Sheriff's Office Deputies teach the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program in Roanoke City's elementary schools. The ten week DARE program is presented to fifth grade students. During the 2009-2010 school year, 935 students were taught skills to resist drugs and violence. Teaching our children to resist drugs and violence is the foundation of the DARE program.
Support Roanoke City Sheriff's Office DARE program by playing in the tournament. To register or to obtain more information contact Lt. Mark Sweetenberg at 540-853-5804 or 540-537-6705 or email at mark.sweetenberg@roanokeva.gov.
