The Planning Commission advises and assists City Council in promoting the orderly development of the City. The Commission develops the plans and ordinances to guide future growth and serves as a sounding board for City Council in matters related to development issues. The Commission reviews and make recommendations to City Council on proposed amendments to the City's land development regulations (rezonings, zoning text amendments), street and alley closure requests and short- and long-range plans.

1. Application by Virginia Department of Transportation (Scott A. Woodrum, P.E.) to permanently discontinue, vacate and close an approximately 2,967 square foot portion of the right-of-way of Oakland Blvd, N.W., adjacent to the existing I-581 right of way, approximately 1000 feet south of Valley View Boulevard Interchange.

2. Application by the City of Roanoke to amend the Planned Unit Development Plan for the property located at 2102 Grandin Road, S.W., bearing Official Tax No. 1460101. The application is to amend the Planned Unit Development Plan to renovate and expand the Raleigh Court Branch Library.

The filing deadline is the 1st Thursday of each month with public hearings scheduled for the following month.
Applicants should schedule a pre-filing conference with the staff to determine the necessity, grounds, and
