Grants

In an effort to provide a financing source for reuse projects, the City aggressively pursues federal and state grant funds. Over $2,000,000 in funding is available to assist with addressing environmental issues at brownfield sites ranging from initial due diligence to site cleanup.

The City of Roanoke is applying for a FY2010 EPA brownfield assessment grant to provide continued assistance with the Citywide Brownfield Plan and to specifically assess underused, potentially contaminated industrial property in the City. If awarded, the City will receive and additional $200,000 for community-wide assessments. The application is under development and will be available for review in mid-October.
