Reverse 911 is an emergency notification system that the City of Roanoke recently purchased. In the event of an emergency that affects multiple properties, such as a gas leak or terrorism incident, emergency personnel can specify the areas of the city affected and deploy Reverse 911. The software will dial every “land line” phone number associated with a property in the defined area and play an event-specific message that includes instructions on what you need to do.
Now, before such an emergency happens, the City of Roanoke wants to ensure that we have contact information for all of our residents and businesses. Residences and businesses with only cell phone or broadband phone service are currently not listed in our database and are encouraged to submit their phone number so that if something happens, we can reach you.
