Patrol Cadet Program
The Roanoke Police Department and Roanoke Parks and Recreation have established a new program for college students interested in a career in law enforcement. The Patrol Cadet Program allows students to work part-time, patrolling facilities operated by Parks and Recreation and assisting the Police Department with non-enforcement matters.
Requirements
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be at least between 18 and 22 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with at least 9 credit hours
- Must have a valid Virginia Operator’s License
- Must have a good driving record
- No felony convictions
- Must pass a background investigation and a polygraph test
- Must be in a physical condition sufficient to perform the job, including ability to stand for long periods of time and operate a motor vehicle
- Must successfully complete an Oral Review Board
- Must not have any convictions regarding domestic violence offenses
- Must be willing to work flexible hours
