Street Cleaning
The city of Roanoke has approximately 1,100 lane miles of streets. The purpose of street cleaning is to maintain public rights-of-way to create a positive image and promote safety and environmental quality throughout the city.
The overall schedule for sweeping the City streets is as follows:
- Clean each residential street once every four months
- Clean arterial streets each month
- Clean the Central Business District (downtown) Streets are swept at night, three nights: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Factors such as weather, changing seasonal conditions and equipment performance affect how closely this schedule can be followed.
