 Annual Roanoke Valley Law Enforcement Memorial Service
May 15th is National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week containing May 15th is National Police Week. This was signed into law by President John F. Kennedy October 1, 1962. On May 15, 1982 the first Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Day Service was held in Washington, DC. In addition, several law enforcement agencies come together every year in the Roanoke Valley during National Police Week to honor fallen officers during this time.
