The Outdoor Education Section provides creative adventure and environmental education programs for families, youth, teens and adults. Participants find that our programs provide an exciting outlet to explore and learn more about our natural environment.
The Section administers Roanoke Adventure Bound, a series of programs and services that reach youth and adults of all ages through alternative recreation pursuits that promote healthy living, appreciation and protection of our natural resources and positive economic development for the Roanoke Valley. Programs include canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and mountain biking, just to name a few. The Section places a strong focus on individuals that do not have ready access to outdoor adventure opportunities that develop trust, communication and teamwork.
