Historic Fire-EMS Station #1



Built in 1906, Fire Station #1 was one of the oldest firehouses in continuous

operation in the state of Virginia.
The station stopped running fire and ems calls on May 9, 2007.
The station is still open to the public for tours and public education. To schedule a tour, contact the Public Education Department at 853-5785.
The Roanoke Police Department will also stable the Mounted Patrol in the rear of the station, bringing horses back
to the fire house for the first time in nearly 90 years!
Fire-EMS Station #1 is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
