Calendar of Elections (1997-2005)
- By state law, elections for mayor and members of city council are held on the first Tuesday in May.
- By federal and state laws, all other regular general elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
- In accordance with state law, primaries for the November election, if necessary, are held on the second Tuesday in June, except presidential primaries are held on the last Tuesday in February. Primaries for the May election, if necessary, are held on the last Tuesday in February in presidential election years and the first Tuesday in March in all other years.
