Southern Hills is the southernmost neighborhood of Roanoke and is bound by major transportation nodes, Route 220 on the south and the Mill Mountain Parkway to the east. The neighborhood has a mixture of land uses: low density residential, high density residential, highway commercial, office, and industrial/mining. Fairly recent developments, The Summit and Pheasant Ridge, have brought higher density and higher priced housing to the neighborhood. The close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Mill Mountain Parkway Spur is a community asset. Southern Hills is well served by parks and recreation opportunities, with Sunrise Park serving as a community focus.
