Our mission is to educate, inform, and inspire our community by effectively, efficiently, and creatively communicating municipal news.
We use the tools of technology, public relations, marketing, and advertising to build a connected community of stakeholders.
We keep internal and external customers advised of city-related events and information via public service announcements, news releases, public and employee newsletters and magazines, communications to members of City Council, RVTV-3, and the Internet. We also provide staff assistance to all departments regarding marketing services through the preparation of booklets, brochures, and other publications and events.
In addition to traditional communication tools, the Office of Communications uses social media applications such as Facebook and Twitter, and Instagram to relay information to a broader spectrum of citizens. section to view videos about the city, its projects and programs. You're also encouraged to sign up
for the city's electronic newsletter "Roanoke Reports." You'll get an e-mail each month with different stories about what's happening in the city. We will continue to explore new ways to “get the word out” and keep citizens informed about city news, activities and events.
